The amount of newly-issued loans in Latvia is expected to increase 20-25% in 2015, reports LETA, according to Swedbank forecasts.
The bank's spokesman Ainars Balcers said in a press conference today that there is no reason to expect a large increase in new loans at the moment. However, the housing support program and low interest rates will contribute to increasing lending volumes.
According to public opinion polls, 21% of residents are planning to borrow money for various needs.
37% of respondents are planning to take out a loan for house renovation, 27% – for some major purchases.
