In April 2015, Lithuania in terms of gold reserves was 82nd in the world. According to Rasa Platukiene, head of the Trade Unit of the Investment Management Department of the Banking Services of the Bank of Lithuania, such reserves are sufficient and the Bank is not planning either a decrease or an increase, writes LETA/ELTA.

She said that gold accounts for a small part of the Bank's financial assets. A total of 5.8 tons of gold were accumulated during the interwar period; they were brought back in 1993 after the restoration of Lithuania's independence.

The Bank of Lithuania has never changed the size of its gold reserves.

In late Q1 of this year, Lithuania's gold reserves on the market were worth EUR 206.4 million. Lithuania's gold is stored in London.
