“With festive seasons approaching, the number of money orders usually increases. This year we can also notice that citizens are more active in sending money orders before Easter. The growing number of sent money orders shows that step-by-step Lithuania is becoming the country of destination, not only origin,” Head of Financial Services Department of Lithuania Post Neringa Knyvienė said.

The most considerable growth with a view to outgoing money orders was recorded in flows to Germany (increase of 77%), Ukraine (59%), Russia (46%), Latvia (36%), Belarus (22%).

According to Ms Knyvienė, Lithuania Post is able to offer its customers flexible terms and conditions for money transfer services to the EU member countries and Russia, Ukraine, and Armenia.

The average amount of outgoing money orders is smaller if compared with inbound money orders: the average amount sent from Lithuania makes EUR 220, and the average amount of incoming money transfers makes approximately EUR 300.

Money orders can be sent and picked up money at any PayPost outlet and majority of post offices.
