Lithuania will not bid for E.ON stake in Latvijas Gaze

BC, Vilnius, 27.11.2014.Print version
Lithuanian state-owned Lietuvos energija and EPSO-G will most likely not bid for the Germany-registered E.ON Ruhrgas International's stake in Latvijas Gaze gas supply company, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to Verslo zinios.

Lietuvos energija and EPSO-G submitted a non-binding offer for the acquisition of Latvijas Gaze shares at the beginning of September.

Verslo zinios reports that Lithuanian companies requested an extension of the deadline for submitting their offers, as the Latvian government's decision on implementation of the Third package of the EU Energy Directive is still unclear.

Lithuanian companies have pointed at lack of information, and that they would like the deadline for the submission of bids extended, or to hold direct negotiations with Latvia.

It is not very likely that Lithuania's request will be fulfilled, Verslo zinios reports.

E.ON Ruhrgas International GmbH owns 47.2% of Latvijas Gaze shares.

34% of shares belong to Russia-registered Gazprom, and 16% – to Itera Latvija.

Lietuvos energija, managed by the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania, and EPSO-GG, managed by the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania, previously signed agreements with E.ON Ruhrgas International on the purchase of shares of Lithuania's energy companies Lietuvos Dujos, Amber Grid, and Lesto.
