Estonian domestic electricity consumption grew by 5% to 695 GWh in October 2014, while the production of electricity fell in Estonia by 6% year-on-year to 976 GWh, LETA/Postimees Online cites main grid company Elering.

The local consumption increased because the air temperature was by nearly 1 degree lower in October this year than last year.

The production of electricity fell due to fall of exports – while in October last year, Estonia's net export formed 378 GWh, this year it was 281 GWh.

Production of electricity from fossil fuels fell by 8% while production from renewable source grew the same amount. Estonian renewable energy production reached 129 GWh in October. The share of renewable energy in consumption was 16.4%.
