Estonian domestic electricity consumption grew by 6% to 606 GWh in September, LETA/Public Broadcasting cite Elering.

The local consumption has increased since May but in the first nine months of the year, the consumption was still by 1% lower than at the same time last year.

The production of electricity fell in Estonia in September by 12% year-on-year to 874 GWh, while the production of renewable energy grew by 25%.

The main cause of the fall of electricity production was increased electricity flow from Finland via Estonia to Latvia.

The Estonian electricity production exceeded consumption by 44% in September, and the net electricity exports amounted to 268 GWh.
