Lithuanian thermal power plants will produce more energy as heating season commences

Unit 9 of the Lithuania Power Plant will be stopped and thermal power plants will produce electricity as heating season has commenced in Lithuanian cities, reports LETA/ELTA.

Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has informed that electricity prices in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia trading zones were essentially equal on 12-20 October as the Estlink-2 connection was closed for maintenance.

 

The average electricity price on Nord Pool Spot power market Lithuania trading zone was EUR 0.177 on 13-19 October, by 8% lower than the previous week.

 

Kaliningrad Thermal Power Plant also underwent maintenance and electricity demand in Lithuania was ensured by unit 9 of Lithuania Power Plant, Riga Thermal and Hydroelectric Power Plants as well as increased import from Belarus.

 

Lithuania imported 62% of the consumed electricity.

 

On 13-19 October, international Latvia-Estonia electricity link throughput was used on average at 72%, Lithuania-Latvia at 35% and Lithuania-Belarus at 36%.
