Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply and natural gas trading company Litgas, a part of energy company group Lietuvos Energija, will sign an agreement of strategic importance with Norwegian company Statoil, informs LETA/ELTA.

The agreement provides that the minimum necessary amount of gas will be supplied to the LNG terminal in Klaipeda.

A press conference will be held at the Government's Office on the occasion of contract signing. It will be attended by Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius; Chairman of the Board and Director General of Lietuvos Energija, Dalius Misiunas; Vice President of Statoil for LNG trading and operations, Geir Heitmann; and Director General of Litgas, Dominykas Tuckus.

Upon conducting an agreement with LNG provider, UAB Litgas will have to guarantee gas supply of 540 million cubic metres per year, starting with 2015.

For five years Statoil will provide LNG terminal with gas for lower than the average global gas market price.
