Lithuanian energy minister met with European Commissioner Stefan Fule

On 17 July, the Minister of Energy Jaroslav Neverovic met with Stefan Fule, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, during his visit to Lithuania, reported BC the Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, the minister of energy and the commissioner discussed the possible Lithuania's contribution to help Ukraine and other EU neighbour countries to implement reforms in the energy sector.

 

Minister Neverovic noted that Lithuania has gone a long way to reform the energy sector and has accumulated priceless experience and would like and be able to share it with other countries aiming to integrate in the European Union.

 

"We believe that Lithuania's achievements in the fields of the development of gas and electricity market, the rapid implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and knowledge gained from the closure of the Ignalina nuclear power plant can be a successful example for these countries," said the minister of energy.

 

During the meeting, it was agreed to seek for a more intensive use of all available instruments contributing to the promotion of the integration of Ukraine and the EU within the energy sector.
