Lithuanian Amber Grid signs gas pipeline construction contract

On 11 July 2014, having received an ascent of the Board of Directors, Lithuanian Amber Grid signed contracts on contract works of the construction of gas pipeline Klaipeda-Kursenai (in the implementation of the project of enhancing capacities of gas pipeline Klaipeda-Kiemenai) and the purchase of pipes necessary for the construction, informs LETA/ELTA, referring to Amber Grid.

Contact on the purchase of the construction works of gas transmission pipeline Klaipeda-Kursenai was concluded with Alvora, operating under a joint venture agreement together with Kauno dujotiekio statyba and Siauliu dujotiekio statyba. The value of the contract – LTL 130 million (EUR 37.7 million) exclusive of VAT.

 

Contract on the purchase of steel pipes necessary for the construction of gas transmission pipeline Klaipeda-Kursenai was concluded with Noksel Celik Boru Sanayi A.S., operating under a joint venture agreement with Borusan Mannesmann Boru Sanayi Ve Tic A.S. and Erciyas Celik Boru Sanayi A.S. The value of the contract – LTL 57 million (EUR 16.52 million) exclusive of VAT.

 

The aim of this economic project of state importance is to diversify sources of the supply of gas in the Baltic region, create sufficient capacities for transporting natural gas from the liquefied natural gas terminal in Klaipeda to consumers in Lithuania and other Baltic countries, ensure safety and reliability of operations of natural gas system.

 

A 110 km long, 800 mm wide pipeline going from Klaipeda natural gas terminal interconnection point nearby Klaipeda to Kursenai will be built for the implementation of the project. The commencement of the pipeline is scheduled in the end of 2015.
