The market share of Estonia's state-owned electricity producer and seller Eesti Energia in electricity consumption, based on the balance portfolio, fell in February to 59.5%, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

In December, Eesti Energia's market share had been 71.6% and in January 60%.

The market shares of some smaller electricity sellers have increased. For example the market share of Elektrum was in December 9.6%, in January 14.6% and 15.4% in February. The share of Baltic Energy Services OÜ in consumption was 9.3% in December, 10.2% in January and 9.9% in February.

Elering said that at the end of February, 557,000 measuring points had a contract for buying electricity and there were nearly 151,000 measuring points without an electricity contract that consumed electricity on the basis of general service. The share of the general service formed just 8% of the consumption though.
