TV program: Gazprom offers Lithuania gas price reduced 20% for 3 years

The Russian gas concern Gazprom offered Lithuania to sign a 10 year gas supply agreement, yet it offered a 20% lower gas price, which would make Lithuania equal with Latvia and Estonia, only for three years, writes LETA/ELTA.

In turn, Lithuania should drop its claims against Gazprom. This was announced by LNK television based on unnamed sources.

 

As reported, on February 7 in Sochi, Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius met with CEO at Russian gas giant Gazprom Aleksey Miller and Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to discuss negotiations. During the meetings Butkevicius heard verbal offers, which later were called by President Dalia Grybauskaite as "negotiable."

 

According to the president, yet the written offers were different from the verbal ones and are unacceptable; consequently, the negotiations have to be further continued.

 

It was the first meeting between Lithuania's Prime Minister and CEO at Russian gas giant Gazprom Aleksey Miller CEO at Russian gas giant Gazprom Aleksey Miller when the shareholders of the company Lietuvos Dujos decided to initiate the new lawsuit against the Gazprom over too high gas price.

 

The European Commission has been carrying out an investigation against Gazprom related to the dominant position of the Russian gas giant in the Middle and Eastern European countries.
