As the Foreign Ministry's Press Center informed LETA, during the meeting, Teikmanis also underlined the principal sectors of cooperation between Latvia and U.S.

Cooperation for promotion of democracy in the European Union neighborhood region and security policy issues remain among the cooperation priorities. Both parties agreed that Latvia's accession to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program has taken place very successfully, the citizens of Latvia, who have already used the opportunity to travel to U.S. visa-free, have given positive feedback.

The state secretary and the U.S. ambassador also discussed the need for Latvian and American officials to exchange visits, especially underlining the importance of U.S. senators and congressmen visits to Latvia.

Teikmanis also emphasized that it will be crucial to continue the current active dialogue also with the new U.S. administration.
