After returning from the official visit to Turkmenistan Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevicius said that so far gas from Turkmenistan could be imported only for household consumers. According to the Prime Minister, Klaipeda Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal, which is currently under construction, could be supplied with gas from Turkmenistan only after the its sea port expansion, which would happen not earlier than in three years, informs LETA/ELTA.

"Currently they can only offer supply of gas butane and propane through tanker which is used in vehicles, gas tanks or for housing heating in Lithuanian districts. Liquefied natural gas import is only possible after they expand their Caspian Sea port," said the Prime Minister in an interview on the radio Ziniu Radijas on Thursday morning.

According to Butkevicius, the Turkmens have already started the expansion project of the sea port, however their terminal will only be built in several years.

"The opportunity (to supply LNG to Lithuania – ELTA) would arise in three years, as such is their plan," said the Prime Minister.
