BC, Vilnius, 13.06.2013.Print version
Implementation of EU 3rd Energy package in Lithuanian natural gas sector moves forward according to the plan – the spin-off of the natural gas transmission activity form the Company Lietuvos dujos has begun on June 11, reports LETA/ELTA.

The statute of the new company Amber Grid which will further perform gas transmission activity were adopted in the general meeting of Lietuvos dujos shareholders, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.

These actions are a part of the 3rd EU energy package implementation. Full implementation of third energy package is necessary in order to create a competitive energy market. Lithuania has chosen "ownership unbundling" in gas and electricity sectors – this will create competitive conditions and increase transparency.

The managing board of Amber Grid was also elected today. Until the spun off of the control activity the shareholders of Amber Grid will be the same as those of Lietuvos dujos.

According to the plan, the assets, rights and obligations related to the unbundled activities of the Company will be fully transferred to Amber Grid as of 31 July 2013. The unbundling of the control activity will be finished until 31 October 2014.
