Narva Energia trade union chairman Vladimir Aleksejev announced on Tuesday that employees of Narva Elektrijaamad have launched preparations for a strike over concluding collective labour agreement.

On Wednesday, Eesti Energia Narva Elektrijaamad and trade unions signed a protocol of differences of opinion than enables the sides to turn to State Conciliator Henn Pärn.

The trade unions demand a wage increase of up to 32% – 20% increase for basic wages and more with result-based bonuses. The company offers a wage increase of 6.2%.

Aas stressed that increasing wages by the amount demanded by trade unions would harm the company's sustainability and competitiveness.

The average wage of staff of Narva Elektrijaamad was 1,396 euros a month in 2012 and 1,197 euros a month in 2011, he said.

As to the strike threats of trade unions, Aas said that it is too early to talk about that since all stages of dispute have to be passed first.

Over 700 people work in Narva Elektrijaamad.
