BC, Vilnius, 03.01.2013.Print version
Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius so far cannot say if Lithuania is going to build a new nuclear power plant (NPP) in Visaginas and says he cannot even find documents signed by the Baltic States during the previous government's tenure, reports LETA/ELTA.

PM Butkevicius said that "so far the current Government and the energy minister cannot even find some of the documents signed by the previous government, among them could be documents signed with other Baltic States". He said that he would ask about it during his visit in Latvian next week.

"I will ask if there was any memorandum or some other kind of agreement on the NPP construction signed, but so far the Government's staff has not given me any documents about the financial, legal and technological commitments by the three Baltic States," he said.

During an advisory referendum in Lithuania in October 2012, a total of 62.68% of Lithuanians were against the building of the Visaginas NPP, while the construction was supported by 34.09% of voters.
