Russian gas giant Gazprom is making concession to all Europe but Lithuania. For example, this season Russia sells natural gas to Germans under the price of LTL 1,166 – 1,206 (EUR 338 – 350) per thousand cubic metres, informs LETA/ELTA, referring to Respublika.
Gazprom forecasts that these prices may fall to LTL 1,014-1,068 (EUR 294-310). Meanwhile, the price that Lithuania paid for imported Russian gas in the first half of this year reaches LTL 1,140 (EUR 330) and is to rise to LTL 1,390 (EUR 403) from July 1. It is predicted that these prices may even go up in autumn. As a result, Lietuvos Dujos (Lithuanian Gas), where the major shareholder is Gazprom, will raise heating price the upcoming heating season.
Why does Lithuania pay for the same gas from Gazprom by 13% more than Estonia and by 20% more than Latvia? Energy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas has promised the politicians a 15% lower price for natural gas for households. However, the natural gas price in the country only took the direction upwards.
