The news emerged after a two hours meeting of Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and Director General of Gazprom Export Alexandr Medvedev, informs LETA/ELTA.
"Under our agreement, Gazprom will draft a list of questions to Lithuania, which will have to be answered during the implementation of the third package. I think that upon the implementation of this package in Lithuania, a wide range of questions have to be taken into account," Medvedev said.
He also said he informed the Prime Minister Kubilius that it was agreed to lower prices and increase volumes in the future in exports between Gazprom and Achema.
"That means that Lithuania's biggest company will get gas for competitive prices. That, in turn, means creating new jobs," said the representative of the Russian company.
Medvedev says that gas prices to Lithuania are not discriminatory. He claims that the prices are calculated by a special formula which includes gas supply volume and contract terms. Other countries like neighbouring Latvia and Estonia pay for gas a little less than Lithuania because they have renewed their contract with Gazprom and this way secured a larger supply of gas.
"We corrected prices in Latvia and Estonia because our company and the countries agreed on bigger, longer-term volumes of gas supply. Similar talks with Lithuanian company Lietuvos Dujos (Lithuanian Gas) are being held as well (&)," Medvedev said.
"Nobody is making terms to anybody. We simply show our capacities and, naturally, the higher the volume, the more maneuvers the seller can make (&) I would like to stress that there cannot be any discrimination against in terms of prices and there has been none. We simply have not had any negotiations so far, while now we have defined themes, volumes, terms of contract and everything will be done in line with our mutual obligations," said the head of Gazprom Export.
