In 2009, joint-stock power utility company Latvenergo exported LVL 28.4 million worth of electric energy, which is LVL 15 million more when compared to 2008, the company informed the business information portal Nozare.lv.

As the company's chairman of the board Uldis Bariss predicts, Latvenergo’s revenue from exporting electric energy could exceed LVL 50 million this year, informs LETA.

''Lithuania and Estonia opened their electricity markets this year, which allowed Latvenergo to begin operating in neighboring countries,'' Bariss pointed out.

At the moment, Latvenergo has gained approximately five% of the electricity markets in Lithuania and Estonia, and the company's goal is to continue increasing its market share in these countries.
