Riga Court released Karlis Mikelsons on bail

Print versionToday, the Riga Central District Court released Karlis Mikelsons, former board chairman of power utility company "Latvenergo", after posting LVL 50,000 bail, LETA was informed by the court's spokesman Kaspars Sadauskis.

As LETA reported previously, Mikelsons recently submitted a complaint against the Latvian state to the European Court of Human Rights claiming that the conditions of his arrest had been unlawful.
Mikelsons was among a group of eight people, including five "Latvenergo" officials, who were arrested in June this year on suspicions of bribery, abuse of office, and money laundering.
