Hydropower plants on the Daugava River generated 2,201 GWh of power in January-October 2020, up 45.9% against the same period a year ago, while small hydropower plants generated 58,417 MWh of electric power, or 41.5% more than a year ago.

Thermal power stations Rigas TEC-1, Rigas TEC-2, Rigas Siltums, Juglas Jauda and Fortum generated 1,303 GWh of power. In January-October 2020, power generation by the thermal power stations fell 46.6% y-o-y.

Biomass-fired power plants generated 322,748 MWh of power, down 1.2%. Combined heat and power plants generated 250,015 MWh of electricity, down 22.2%, and power plants running on biogas generated 257,504 MWh of electricity, down 5.4% from the first ten months of 2019.

Power generation by Latvia’s wind farms increased by 16.9% y-o-y to 142,146 MWh and solar power stations generated 2,000 MWh of electricity, up 32.4%.
