Latvia: MPC to be cut by 23% in 2021

On Tuesday the government supported the Economics Ministry's proposal to cut the mandatory purchase component (MPC) on electricity in 2021 by 23% to EUR 17.51 per MWh, reported LETA.
EUR 20 mln from Latvenergo dividends will be used for reducing MPC in 2021.
In 2022, MPC will be reduced to EUR 16.38 per MWh, and in 2023 MPC will be reduced to EUR 13.25 MWh.
The Economics Ministry informed LETA that in 2021 Latvenergo will pay the state at least EUR 89.64 mln in dividends from 2019 profit, and in the next two years - not less than EUR 74.5 mln.
Earlier the Economics Ministry proposed to reduce the mandatory purchase component (MPC) of the electricity price to EUR 16.78 per megawatt-hour (MWh) from EUR 22.68 per MWh, or by 26% in 2021, the ministry's state secretary Edmunds Valantis reported.
