BC, Vilnius, 28.07.2020.Print version
Internal tests simulating the restoration of power following a major shutdown were carried at Kruonis Pumped Storage Plant and Kaunas Algirdas Brazauskas Hydroelectric Power Plant on Saturday to see whether the system is well prepared for any disruptions, reported LETA/BNS.
"The test once again confirmed that we are ready for
unexpected situations. The power plants operated by Ignitis Gamyba
ensure the safety and stability of Lithuania's system," Rimgaudas
Kalvaitis, CEO at Ignitis Gamyba, said.
The company said the black start function was tested during
the trial. The two facilities are the only ones in Lithuania, having such a
function and involved in tests on the energy system's restoration following an
shutdown.
Similar restoration tests when power supplies is resumed
following shutdowns across the country are done annually.
