Elektrum Lietuva: Lithuania's wholesale electricity price rises 11% w-o-w
Electricity prices increased across the Baltic region last week, rising by 11% to 27.18 euros in Latvia and by 19% to 29.36 euros in Estonia.
Meanwhile, the average price on the Nord Pool power exchange fell by 14 % to 10.02 euros, the independent electricity supplier said.
“Prices in the Nordic countries were mainly affected by abundant precipitation, which triggered a surge in electricity output at the region’s hydropower plants. Prices in the Baltic countries differed due to lower electricity flows between the countries,” said Karolis Bagdonas, corporate client manager at Elektrum Lietuva.
The three Baltic countries' total power consumption shrank by 1% to 473 gigawatt-hours (GWh). Their overall electricity production decreased by 11% to 244 GWh, covering 51% of the region's needs.
