Hoegh gets EUR 2 mln in dividends from leasing LNG ship to Lithuania

BC, Vilnius, 22.05.2018.Print version
Hoegh LNG Lietuva, a Norwegian company leasing FSRU Independence LNG storage vessel to Lithuania, paid 2 million euros in dividends for 2016 to its UK-registered shareholder Leif Hoegh, reports LETA/BNS.

This was the first time since the start of the ship's lease in late 2014 that the vessel's owner received revenue not only from the lease but also in the form of dividends.

In the 2017 financial report submitted to the Lithuanian Center of Registers, Hoegh LNG Lietuva states it had 3.2 million euros of undistributed profits at the end of the last year.

The company posted 49.564 million euros in revenue last year, down 2.4 percent 50.785 million euros in 2016. Its net profits grew 1.1 percent to 1.859 million euros.

Renting FSRU Independence to Lithuania's Klaipedos Nafta under a long-term contract is Hoegh LNG Lietuva's main activity.

Lithuania's government plans to decide later this on what to do with the LNG vessel after its lease contract expires in 2024. Buying it is estimated to cost between 121 and 160 million euros but the specific price stated in the contract with Hoegh LNG is confidential.
