Rigas Siltums will help its 230 employees to find new jobs

Rigas Siltums heating company will help its 230 employees that the company has to fire to find new jobs, said the company’s board chairman Normunds Talcis in an interview with the Latvian public radio on Wednesday, cites LETA.

Talcis said that the company has started assessment of its workers. He said that Rigas Siltums will help its employees to prepare CVs and recommendation letters and ask the State Employment Agency for assistance.

 

Talcis is confident that the company’s specialists will be able to find new jobs.

 

He also said that there are negotiations underway with Rigas Namu Parvaldnieks (RNP) municipal housing manager on when the new service provider will take over the functions of Rigas Siltums.

 

As reported, RNP in a tender has selected a new company for maintenance of heating systems in its buildings. Rigas Siltums heating company will continue supply of heating, but will not be in charge of maintenance of the systems within buildings any more. Siltumserviss Riga has been selected for this task instead.

 

Talcis reminded that Rigas Siltums has been in charge of maintenance of the heating systems since 1996 and has invested much in employees and equipment.

 

Rigas Siltums has appealed RNP decision at the administrative district court.

 

Talcis said that this is a time of changes for the company, but the company continues to provide maintenance services to other customers.


Siltumserviss Riga general partnership consists of four companies – SB, Alpex, Adapteris and LEP Energy. The companies are owned by several individuals.

 

Rigas Siltums is one of the key heat suppliers in Riga as 77% of its output is used for heating and hot water supply to residential houses in Riga. The city's heating network is 900 kilometers long, and Rigas Siltums owns 75% of it.

 

The shareholders of the company are the Latvian state with 48.995% of shares, the Riga City Council with 49%, Energijas Risinajumi.RIX with 2% and the state-owned energy company Latvenergo with 0.005%.
