Tanker to deliver this year's 1st LNG cargo for Lithuania's Achema

BC, Vilnius, 13.04.2017.Print version
A new shipment of around 140,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Norway's Statoil is arriving to Klaipeda on Thursday, marking the first delivery of LNG to the fertilizer manufacturer Achema in the current gas year, writes LETA/BNS.

According to the vessel positions tracking website Marinetraffic.com, the Arctic Princess is coming from the port of Point Fortin in Trinidad and Tobago, which indicates that the Norwegian supplier has carried out a gas exchange deal with another supplier.

Achema has said that it plans to import Norwegian gas via the Klaipeda LNG terminal during the off-the- heating-season period when it should be cheaper than Russian gas supplied by Gazprom.

Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (Lithuanian Gas Supply, or LDT) purchases LNG from the US company Koch Supply & Trading.

The last time a LNG tanker came to Klaipeda was in late March. In total, six LNG cargoes have been delivered to the Lithuanian port since the start of the current gas year on Oct. 1, 2016.
