Rigas Siltums municipal heating company raises tariff in March and April

The tariff of Rigas Siltums municipal heating company will be raised in March and April, informed LETA.

As of February 1, the tariff has remained unchanged from February 2016 at EUR 45.33 per MWh, excluding VAT.


In March and April, based on the announcement by Latvijas Gaze about growing natural gas price, the tariff is expected to grow to EUR 49.05 per MWh in March and EUR 48.11 per MWh in April, excluding VAT..


The heating tariffs in Riga are lowest among Latvia’s largest cities – Valmiera, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Rezekne, Liepaja, Jekabpils, Jurmala and Ventspils.


Rigas Siltums manages and sells 77% of all heat energy necessary to the city of Riga. The city's heating network is 900 kilometers long, and Rigas Siltums owns 75 percent of it.


The shareholders of the company are the Latvian state with 48.995% of shares, the Riga City Council with 49%, Energijas Risinajumi RIX with 2%and the state-owned energy company Latvenergo with 0.005%.
