Wind power and Swedish electricity keep prices in Lithuanian market stable

Print versionPrices in the Lithuanian electricity market remained almost unchanged last week from the previous week thanks to increased wind power output and Swedish electricity imports, Litgrid said LETA/BNS on Monday.

"The demand for electricity rose by 5% in Lithuania last week, but growing wind power generation and electricity imports from Sweden, which tripled, kept the market price stable," the power transmission system operator said.
The price of electricity in Nord Pool Spot's Lithuanian bidding area last week averaged 33 euros per megawatt-hour, down by 3% from the previous week and down by almost half from a year ago.
Lithuania last week imported 82% of its electricity, with one-third coming from Latvia, Estonia and Finland, 36% from Sweden and 31% from third countries.
