Heating tariffs in Riga to slightly grow in December

Heating tariffs in Riga will slightly grow in December compared to November – to EUR 42.54 per MWh (VAT excluded), Linda Rence, a representatives of Rigas Siltums municipal heating company said LETA.

At the same time, she said that the tariff will be by 10 percent lower than in December 2015.


In December the natural gas tariffs will grow, according to a statement published by Latvijas Gaze natural gas utility, and also heating tariffs will rise as they are tied to the natural gas prices.


Rence said that in January and February the heating tariff expected to remain unchanged at EUR 42.54 per MWh (VAT excluded).


Rence also said that Riga has the lowest heating tariffs compared to other Latvia’s largest cities.


In November the heating tariff remained at EUR 40.68 per MWH.


Rigas Siltums is one of the main suppliers of thermal power in Riga. Around 76 percent of the heat energy supplied by the company is used for heating and hot water supply to residential buildings in Riga. The city's heating network is 800 kilometers long, and Rigas Siltums owns 74% of it.
