Natgas prices for Lithuania's households won't change in January

BC, Vilnius, 30.11.2016.Print version
Natural gas prices for Lithuania's households are set to remain unchanged in the first half of 2017 from their current levels, reports LETA/BNS.

The National Commission for Energy Control and Prices approved on Monday a proposal from Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (Lithuanian Gas Supply, or LDT), a gas trade arm of the state energy group Lietuvos Energija (Lithuanian Energy), to leave the prices unchanged.

LDT said that the prices will remain stable despite rising gas prices in international markets as the increase in prices is offset by compensation received from Russia's gas giant Gazprom for gas purchased in 2013-2014.

The price of natural gas for customers using up to 500 cubic meters per year, mostly for cooking, will remain at 0.61 euros per cubic meter in the first half of 2017, , and the price for those using between 501 and 20,000 cubic meters per year at 0.36 euros. Customers using more than 20,000 cubic meters per year will continue to pay 0.35 euros per cubic meter.

The last time natural gas prices for households changed was last July, when the prices were cut by 8%, 14% and 15% for these groups of consumers, respectively.
