Latvia's Augstsprieguma Tikls transmission operator plans to raise tariffs

BC, Riga, 25.10.2016.Print version
Latvia's Augstspriegumu Tikls power transmission system operator has submitted a new tariff project to the Public Utilities Commission (regulator), planning an 8-13 percent tariff hike, the company said in a statement published on Latvia’s official gazette Latvijas Vestnesis, noted LETA.

The new tariffs should come into force on February 1, 2017.

The tariff hike has been explained with the necessity to revise the current power transmission tariffs

As reported, on August 1, 2015, the Public Utilities Commission approved the new differentiated tariffs by Augstsprieguma Tikls, which were by 0.8-8.1 percent lower than earlier.

Last year Augstsprieguma Tikls said that the reduction of tariffs will refer to separate users of Sadales Tikls power distribution company, for example, Cemex and Ventamonjaks Serviss.

Augstsprieguma Tikls is an independent transmission system operator, which operates the electric power transmission network and ensures security of electric power supply in Latvia, as well as fulfills the following mission: providing power transmission services based on the published transmission service tariffs and providing free third-party access to the transmission network. Augstsprieguma Tikls holds operational control of the transmission system and ensures its stable operation.
