Market price of electricity in Estonia averages EUR 32.4 in September

According to data of the Nordic power exchange Nord Pool the average price of electricity in September was 32.4 euros per megawatt-hour in bidding area Estonia, the Estonian transmission system operator Elering reports LETA/BNS.

The average price of electricity in Latvia was 32.52 euros per MWh and in Lithuania the price averaged 34.03 euros per MWh. The Nord Pool system price in September was 25.19 euros per MWh.


In 98 % of the hours in September electricity flowed from Estonia to Latvia and 74 % of the transmission capacity was used. Electricity flowed from Finland to Estonia in 55 % of the hours and the other way round in a third of the hours.


Elering earned around 800,000 euros from the distribution of transmission capacities last month.


Judging by financial transactions on the Nasdaq OMX Commodities market, the average price of electricity in NPS price area Estonia in October is expected to be 35.2 euros per MWh, and the average price next year 34.73 euros per MWh.
