Estonian energy group Utilitas brings subsidiaries under common brand

BC, Tallinn, 20.09.2016.Print version
Companies of the Utilitas group, which supplies eight Estonian towns with thermal energy, have filed applications to change their business names so that they would operate under a common brand in the future, BC Utilitas representative informed BC.

AS Tallinna Kute would be renamed AS Utilitas Tallinn and AS Erakute- AS Utilitas Eesti. OU Tallinna Elektrijaam has filed an application to change its business name to OU Utilitas Tallinna Elektrijaam, Utilitas said.

"The main reason for the name change is the rapid development Utilitas has gone through in recent years, due to substantial investments. We have established new CHP stations and renovated both boilerhouses and district heating networks, which has led to higher energy efficiency, greener environment and optimal thermal energy prices. Investments and innovations have been made at our locations all over Estonian and thus it is the right moment now to streamline the identity of the Utilitas group companies," said Priit Koit, CEO of Utilitas.

The brand consolidation will not bring about any changes for customers.

Fully owned by Estonian entrepreneurs, Utilitas supplies thermal energy to clients in eight Estonian towns: Tallinn, Maardu, Keila, Haapsalu, Kardla, Rapla, Jogeva, and Valga.

The companies of Utilitas Group manage 500 kilometers of district heating networks all over Estonia. The total installed capacity of its boilerhouses amounts to 1.1 gigawatts. The installed capacity of the Utilitas CHP at Vao just outside Tallinn is 25 megawatts and thermal installed capacity 67 megawatts.
