BC, Vilnius, 16.09.2016.Print version
Orion Asset Management, an investment company of the Swedish-owned group Scaent Baltic, and the Dutch-owned Energy Investment Fund are selling a 46-megawatt wind farm, worth around 72 mln euros, in the district of Mazeikiai, in northwestern Lithuania.

No information is available at the moment on potential buyers or the possible value of the deal, but the chief executive officer of Lietuvos Energija (Lithuanian Energy) has confirmed that the state energy group is interested in the wind farm.

"The sale process started in August. We are aiming to finalize it or at least sign binding agreements by the end of the year," Zygintas Macenas, managing partner at the investment banking company Summa Advisers, which advises the sellers, told.

"Up to 100 % of shares (in Pamario Jegainiu Energija), the whole wind farm, are up for sale," he said.

Macenas would not say if there is interest from potential buyers and what the price tag is.

In his words, Scandinavian and other European companies are expected to take part in the international competitive bidding process.

Dalius Misiunas, CEO of Lietuvos Energija, which early this year purchased wind farms in Lithuania and Estonia for a total of 28 mln euros, confirmed that the group is interested in the acquisition of the Mazeikiai wind farm.

The Baltic Energy and Infrastructure Fund, a fund of Lords LB Asset Management, may also take interest in the wind farm, Jaroslav Neverovic, the fund's manager, confirmed.

Lietuvos Energija in early 2016 purchased two companies -- Eurakras and Tuulueenergia -- that own wind farms in Lithuania and Estonia.

The group has also launched a tender to buy wind farm projects that are already being developed. Eight developers are taking part in the bidding.

Orion Asset Management and Energy Investment Fund each invested 11 mln euros in the Mazeikiai wind farm. Swedbank provided a 52.6-mln-euro loan for the project.
