Anhydrite extraction project in Lithuania stalled

BC, Vilnius, 27.04.2016.Print version
The 50 million euro project to extract anhydrite in the Kaunas district in Lithuania has been stalled, the Lithuanian business daily Verslo Zinios said, cites LETA/BNS.

"The project has been temporarily 'conserved.' For now, everything has been halted, although all permits to extract anhydrite are in place. It all depends on money. We have not yet found funds for further development. Finding a strategic investor requires money, and our company is not investing any more for now," said Tomas Bodrije of the Margasmilte extraction company developing the project.

Vytautas Plunksnis, board chairman of the Investors' Association, told the daily that the amount of anhydrite extracted in Poland is currently sufficient on the market, adding that Margasmilte would hardly find an investor for the project.
