The Alexela Group as well as a group of investors, Trilini Energy OU, want to acquire the majority holding in Estonia's natural gas seller Eesti Gaas from the Finnish energy group Fortum, the daily Eesti Paevaleht reports, cites LETA/BNS.

Trilini Energy is led by chairman of the supervisory board of Eesti Gaas Aarne Saar, and has connections with businessmen Ain Hanschmidt and Even Tudeberg. Other partners of the company include member of the supervisory board of Eesti Gaas and head of the Latvian gas company Itera Latvija, Juris Savickis, and transit businessman Viktor Golinski, who is also a minor shareholder in Eesti Gaas, the newspaper reports.

Member of the board of Alexela Group and head of Alexela Energia, Marti Haal, told the daily that they were interested in buying Eesti Gaas in 2013 and are also interested now, but cannot comment more on the potential deal.

At present Fortum owns 51% of Eesti Gaas and 37% is owned by the Russian gas giant Gazprom. According to information available to the newspaper, Fortum has been open to purchasing offers for at least a year and in the near future Gazprom will probably also announce its intention to leave the Estonian market.
