Such words of Adamkus were quoted by presidential spokeswoman Rita Grumadaite on Wednesday.
"In the opinion of the president, the absence of a clear energy strategy casts doubts on Lithuania's intentions to remain the country of nuclear energy voiced in public and implement the related projects on electricity links. Therefore, the president thinks that Lithuania's aims to overcome energy isolation and dependence on Eastern suppliers might not be achieved soon," said Grumadaite after the president's meeting with Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas.
According to the presidential spokeswoman, in the meeting Adamkus raised an issue of the implementation of international energy projects.
"The head of state asked the minister how to retain the attention of international partners on the project of the nuclear power plant in the face of doubts on the commitments to build the new nuclear power plant in Lithuania," Grumadaite stated.
