Baltic Energy Alliance: active involvement of international business is essential for the success of Nord Stream 2

BC, Riga, 03.02.2016.Print version
An active involvement of an international business players both from East and West is essential to guarantee the diversity and success for large scale multinational energy projects. Such a dialogue will also serve as a good basis of providing sound arguments on initiatives of key importance such as Nord Stream 2 development that is currently being interpreted differently and raises a lot of emotional discussions.

As indicated by Mr. Maris Sproga, the developer of Baltic Energy Alliance, for a commodity of strategic importance as gas is, its crucial to evaluate all the pros and cons within an independent center of excellency involving all the relevant stakeholders and to provide balanced arguments for decision makers avoiding being populistic.

Also the Nord Stream 2 consortium has to be a lot more active dealing with relevant stakeholders and involving different opinions to clarify the concerns raised over the project in a transparent manner.

As informed earlier, the Baltic Energy Alliance, a concept organization for gas business in the Baltic Sea Region, is currently being developed. The idea beyond it is to compensate the lack of information on main gas business issues – i.e new infrastructure projects, security of supply and diversity.
