Lithuanian gas formed 21% of all natural gas import to Estonia in May, 2015

In May, imports of natural gas to Estonia reached 28.5 million cubic meters; the gas bought by new gas market participants from Lithuania formed 21% of the total imports, Public Broadcasting reports, writes LETA.

In April, 27% of all the gas was imported from Lithuania.


Baltic Energy Partners, Eesti Energia and Reola Gaas imported in May 6 million cubic metres of gas from Lithuania. In March this year, import from Lithuania formed 10.6 million cubic metres and in April 11 million cubic metres.


Between Latvia and Russia, 86.3 million cubic meters of gas was moving via the Estonian gas grid, which was by 38% less than at the same time last year.


The average ceiling price of Gazprom natural gas imported to Estonia was according to Elering's estimate 24.94 euros per megawatt hour. The price of natural gas traded at the Lithuanian gas exchange Get Baltic was in May an average of 19.14 euros per megawatt-hour and at the Finnish gas exchange Kaasupörssi, the comparable prices were last month, in the range of 16.65 to 20.88 euros per megawatt-hour.
