Latvijas Gaze begins pumping gas for next heating season into Incukalns facility

On May 27th 2015, joint-stock gas supply company Latvijas Gaze has begun pumping gas into the Incukalns Underground Storage Facility in preparation for the next heating season, the company's spokesman Vinsents Makaris explained, adding that due to the warm winter, the company has started to pump gas into the facility about a month later than usual, informs LETA.

During this past heating season, 930 million cubic-meters of natural has was used for Latvian consumers, while Russian and Estonian consumers spent around 920 million cubic-meters of gas.

 

Compared to the previous season, this was about 50 million less cubic-meters from both Latvian and foreign consumers.

 

The amount of natural gas currently remaining in the storage facility is 450 million cubic meters.

 

By the fall, the gas storage facility is expected to have a total of 2.3 billion cubic-meters of gas ready for the new heating season, Makaris explained.
