BC, Riga, 26.05.2015.Print version
Last week, the average price of electricity in Latvia and Lithuania increased to EUR 40.87 per megawatt hour (Mwh), which is 13% more than in the previous week, according to Latvenergo's information on electricity prices on the energy exchange Nord Pool Spot, cites LETA.

Thus, due to low water inflow in the Daugava River and lower production volume at hydroelectric power stations, Latvia's total electricity volume reduced 8%, as compared with the previous week. Electricity prices in Latvia and Lithuania last week ranged between EUR 19.76 and EUR 73.11 per MWh.

Meanwhile, the average price of electricity in the Estonian bidding area was EUR 32.63 per MWh. Prices in Estonia last week ranged between EUR 11.67 and EUR 62.91 per MWh. Reduction in prices was facilitated by the discontinued construction works at "Estlink" interconnection between Finland and Estonia.

Last week, Baltic power plants produced 66% of electricity required for the Baltic States. The largest volume of electricity was imported by Lithuania – 62% of the entire electricity consumption level.
