EBRD's investments in Lithuania to focus on energy efficiency

At the 24th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Finance Minister Rimantas Sadzius met with EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti to discuss the bank's plans and Lithuania's prospects, reports LETA/ELTA.

The EBRD president drew the finance minister's attention to the fact that the EBRD intends to adopt a renewed 3-year strategy for Lithuania by the end of 2015. It will focus on energy efficiency projects and investment to develop venture capital funds.

 

At the bilateral meeting the president told the finance minister that the EBRD intends to substantially increase its role in financing such projects in Lithuania and on the whole in the Baltic States and Central Europe.

 

Sadzius appreciated the EBRD's efforts to assist economic reforms in Ukraine. The finance minister encouraged representatives of the bank to look for additional financing opportunities for Ukraine which is experiencing difficult times.

 

Lithuania has been a member of the EBRD since 1992.
