President meets with Latvian ambassador to U.S. to discuss energy matters and agricultural exports

Today, Latvian President Andris Berzins met with the Latvian Ambassador to the United States Andris Razans to discuss bilateral relations and areas of cooperation between Latvia and the United States which are currently of great significance for both countries, LETA was informed by the Presidential Press Service.

During the meeting, cooperation in the area of military and security was discussed, which has progressed successfully in light of the decisions made at the NATO Summit in Wales, and enjoys strong political support from the U.S. as well.

 

The Latvian president and ambassador mentioned possible areas of cooperation in the energy sector and exports of Latvian agricultural production, where Latvian businesses have already expressed their interest.

 

In conclusion, the ambassador informed that the World Association of Free Latvians (WAFL) was actively preparing for the next business forum for Latvians living abroad, which would be convened this summer in Latvia. The Latvian president appreciated the current performance of the WAFL and expressed his support for further inclusion of Latvians living abroad in facilitating economic growth of Latvia.
