After a longer break UAB Toksika launched its hazardous waste incineration facility in Jurgeliskes village, Siauliai district. Environmentalists are monitoring the amount of emitted pollutants online and say that apart from 17 January everything has been fine so far, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to Siauliu Krastas.

Still, the daily Siauliu Krastas was informed by reliable sources that waste incinerator, which disposes of hazardous waste, had to be stopped in recent days due to technical problems.

Moreover, specialists had to be called in to eliminate those problems. It is questioned if the furnace is operating properly and does not pose danger to people. After all, the company was involved in a number of scandals, possibly even financial crimes, violations of incineration requirements and even an explosion occurred at the facility last summer.

The daily Siauliu Krastas asked UAB Toksika Director General Arunas Dirvinskas if there is real threat to human health due to pollution that is emitted when hazardous waste is incine

rated. He said that "everything is fine".
