Projected Lithuanian-Polish power link sees export limitations

BC, Vilnius, 11.12.2014.Print version
Lithuanian-Polish interconnector LitPol will face limited export capacity from Poland to Lithuania in its first years of operation because of a lack of infrastructure on the Polish side, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to argusmedia.com.

The capacity will become available only after Polish grid operator PSE completes investment in power links between the Warsaw area and the city of Ostroleka in northeast Poland. The specific date for the Polish line completion has not been set, however, it is planned for 2017-2020.

Full capacity on the 500MW link from Lithuania to Poland will be available from 2016.

As reported, 163 kilometre-long LitPol Link connection between the towns of Alytus in Lithuania and Elk in Poland will be the first electricity link between Lithuania and continental Europe.
