BC, Vilnius, 02.09.2014.Print version
According to the head of Lithuanian Government, it is absolutely impossible to increase teacher's salaries already in 2014, reports LETA/ELTA.

"Next year (teachers' – ELTA) salaries will be increased based on budgetary possibilities, we have to admit that we live in times that are difficult to predict. Today it is difficult to guarantee that our economic growth will not be affected by external factors – Russia-Ukraine crisis and rather intense relations of the Western world with Russia (). I see no possibilities to increase salaries this year," the prime minister told the national radio LRT.

Butkevicius hopes that the established working group which includes representatives of trade unions and members of the Ministry of Education and Science will negotiate and manage to solve problems through dialogue.

According to the prime minister, a reform is needed in the education sector, because of the reducing number of schoolchildren.
