4.2% increase in the number of teachers in Latvia

Print versionThe number of teachers in Latvia has increased by 4.2%, according to LETA calculations.

If in the 2009/2010 school year there were 27,250 teachers registered in the country, then last year the number of teachers increased by 1,150, reaching 28,400.
For example, during the crisis years, the number of teachers during the 2008/2009 school year reduced by almost 20%, or by 4,986 teachers.
Since the 2010/2011 school year, the number of teachers has been gradually rising.
