The competition takes place in two stages: in the first round the students submitted papers on various topics related to the port and its operation. At the finals, that will be held on Friday, there will be a team competition: the best projects will compete in person, presenting their creative ideas and answering the questions of the competent jury.
"168 students from various Latvian universities and high schools applied for the competition, and 56 participants submitted their creative projects. In the second round five teams will compete for the main awards – two iPad 3 (for the Winning team), two iPads Mini (for the first runner-up) and two iPod TOUCH (for the second runner-up). Student projects, submitted for the competition, provide quite advanced and creative ideas, so currently it is difficult to predict the winners – all depends on how well the contestants will be able to present their projects on Friday and convince the jury that their team work deserves the highest evaluation," says Mr. Eriks Shkapars, the competition "The Port for the City" jury Chairman.
